§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for Wales what is the scheduled date of (a) the commencement of work and (b) the completion of work on the dualling of the A55 trunk road at Conwy and Penmaenmawr, respectively.
§ Mr. Michael RobertsThe report of the consulting engineers on the feasibility of a tunnel crossing of the Conwy estuary was recently received and is currently under consideration. Until a decision is taken on the form of crossing I cannot give an estimate about the timing of the start and completion dates for the Conwy section. The present anticipated start date for the Penmaenmawr section is mid-1984 with a construction period of two and a half years, subject to the satisfactory completion of the outstanding statutory procedures.
