HC Deb 02 May 1980 vol 983 cc693-4W
Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what was the total expenditure incurred in travelling expenses by the Health and Safety Executive in the year ended 31 March 1979; and what proportion of this was spent on travel to Brussels for European Economic Community discussions.

Mr. Mayhew

[pursuant to his reply, 29 April 1980, c. 322]: The total expenditure incurred on travel and subsistence expenses for staff of the Health and Safety Executive, which includes the six inspectorates, in the year ending 31 March 1979 was £2,248,000, of which £176,000 was for overseas travel. It is not possible to distinguish the cost of travel to Brussels on EEC business—most of which is reimbursed by the European Commission— from the cost of other overseas travel without undue expenditure of staff time.
