asked the Secretary of State for Wales, further to his reply to the hon. Member for Carmarthen on 10 March, if he is now able to report on discussions he has already had with local authority representatives with regard to the strength of the representation that the latter will have on the future health authorities within the Principality; and if he will make a statement on the matter of the future of community health councils in Wales.

There have been no such discussions. I have received some responses to the questions posed on these matters in "Patients First", but a statement would not be appropriate before all representations made during the consultation period, which ends on 30 April, have been considered.
