HC Deb 24 March 1980 vol 981 cc451-2W
Mr. Peter Bottomley

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what representations he has received against an increase in child benefit at least to compensate for inflation.

Mr. Peter Rees

I shall let my hon. Friend have a reply as soon as possible.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will list the tax and prices index compared with that index adjusted to include child benefit and the previous system of child income support for a two adult family with two children over the age of 11 years.

Mr. Peter Rees

asked The tax and price index is published in the Monthly Digest of Statistics, copies of which are available in the Library. The second index requested for comparative purposes could not be constructed without disproportionate cost.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what representations he has received from readers of the Daily Star about child benefit.

Mr. Peter Rees

I will let my hon. Friend have a reply as soon as possible.
