HC Deb 13 March 1980 vol 980 cc712-3W
Dr. David Clark

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list any contracts awarded by his Department to HE Textiles of Newcastle during the last 12 months; and whether it was envisaged that any of these contracts were to be completed by outwork.

Mr. Pattie

Twenty-four contracts, for garments such as combat smocks and trousers, parkas and coveralls, of a total value of approximately £800,000, have been placed with HE Textiles Ltd. of Newcastle by the Ministry of Defence during the last 12 months. It was envisaged when the contracts were placed that all the work would be carried out at the company's factory at Newcastle.
