asked the Secretary of State for Energy (1) how many collieries have been closed during the post 10 years due to the exhaustion of coal or for other estimated annual loss of output;

(2) of the 223 collieries in the United Kingdom in 1978–79 what percentage he estimates are unprofitable at current market prices; and what is the tonnage of coal produced by them.
