asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many persons have died as a result of accidents on British farms since 1960.

Between 1 January 1960 and 31 December 1979, 2,440 fatal accidents arising from agricultural operations in Great Britain have been reported to Her Majesty's Agricultural Inspectorate.

Mr. Hooson

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many persons have sustained serious injury, short of death, as a result of accidents on British farms since 1960.

Between 1 January 1960 and 31 December 1979, 179,536 non-fatal accidents to farmworkers in Great Britain have been reported to Her Majesty's Agricultural Inspectorate. It is not possible to categorise these accidents by degree of severity.
