HL Deb 11 March 1980 vol 406 cc1066-7WA
Lord BROCK WAY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether a decision has been reached on the proposals of the Ealing Borough Council to sell Twyford School to the Church of England and whether the Council is considering selling Acton Wells First School and Middle and Arundell School to religious bodies.

Baroness YOUNG

Notices have been published under Section 13 of the Education Act 1944 proposing to cease to maintain Twyford High School, Acton, and to establish a Church of England voluntary aided high school in its premises. The statutory two months period for objections has not yet expired and, therefore, no decision has been made. I understand that the London Borough of Ealing is considering the sale of Arundell Combined First and Middle School to the Roman Catholic authorities for use by St. Raphael's voluntary aided Combined First and Middle School, but no decision has been reached. The sale of Acton Wells Combined First and Middle School to a religious body is not being considered.
