HC Deb 11 March 1980 vol 980 c486W
13. Mr. Gummer

asked the Secretary of State for Defence when the sites for deployment of cruise missiles will be announced.

Mr. Pym

I shall inform the House as soon as a decision has been made, which I expect to be in the next few months.

31. Mr. Frank Allaun

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he has considered deploying additional cruise or Pershing II missiles on British soil to compensate for Holland's refusal to deploy them.

Mr. Pym

The Netherlands has not refused to deploy U.S. ground-launched cruise missiles—GLCMs—on her territory. The Dutch Government, whilst supporting the need for NATO's theatre nuclear force modernisation programme and the parallel arms control approach to the Soviet Union, have stated that they will take a decision in 1981 on the deployment of GLCMs in their country.
