§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many places in community homes for children have been lost in the West Midlands and the United Kingdom as a whole since May 1979; what numbers have been notified to him as likely to be lost in the future; and how many homes are affected in each case and where.
§ Sir George YoungSince May 1979 my right hon. Friend has approved amendments to the West Midlands regional plan which provide for a reduction of 29 places at a community home in Staffordshire and of 14 places at a home in Birmingham. He is considering proposals for amendments which provide for an increase of 14 places at a home in Solihull and for reductions of 12 places at a home in Solihull, of 36 places at a home in Birmingham and of 12 and 32 places at homes in Warwickshire. Information for the whole of England—and for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, which are not my right hon. Friend's responsibility—could be provided only at disproportionate cost.
