HC Deb 06 March 1980 vol 980 c330W
Mr. Nicholas Baker

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has any plans for gradual removal of security of tenure under the Rent Acts; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Stanley

No.

Mr. Heddle

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment, further to his answer to the hon. Member for Lichfield and Tamworth on Monday 22 October 1979, whether he is yet able to indicate when he expects to consider amending section 37 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 so as adequately to protect those tenants who seek compensation should their landlord object to a new tenancy under section 30(1) of that Act in the light of the cancellation of the rating revaluation in 1982.

Mr. King

The matter is still under consideration.
