Includes provision for part-time teachers. These figures include wages of school caretakers, kitchen staff and other ancillaries.
Earlier figures are not available, since the education and library boards did not come into existence until 1 October 1973.
The number of full-time teachers in schools rose over the period from approximately 17,000 to approximately 19,000.
