HC Deb 05 March 1980 vol 980 c246W
Mr. Peter Mills

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on the future of poultry processors whose plants come up to European Economic Community standards and their ability to sell New York dressed birds after 1981.

Mr. Peter Walker

Derogations may be granted in certain circumstances under the Poultry Meat (Hygiene) Regulations 1976 to allow the production of New York dressed birds in licensed poultry plants until 15 August 1981. These provisions implement the EEC legislation on this subject and any change would require the approval of the Council of Ministers.
