HC Deb 05 March 1980 vol 980 c190W
16. Mr. Sproat asked

the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the latest situation in the fishing industry.

Mr. Younger

I refer my hon. Friend to my earlier reply to the right hon. Member for Orkney and Shetland (Mr. Grimond).

18. Mr. McQuarrie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is yet in a position to indicate when he proposes to tour the North-East of Scotland, including the towns of Fraserburgh and Peterhead, to study the serious situation in the fishing industry.

Mr. Younger

I have no visit specifically arranged but, as I have already indicated, I intend to visit a number of ports in the North-East as soon as my other commitments allow. Meantime, I am closely in touch with the situation and am urgently considering how the fishing industry's present difficulties might be eased.
