HC Deb 04 March 1980 vol 980 c161W
21. Mr. Greville Janner

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is his current estimate of the likely increase or decrease in expenditure on primary school education in 1980.

Mr. Mark Carlisle

The Government's expenditure plans assume that, between 1978–79 and 1980–81, current expenditure on primary schools in England and Wales will fall by about £70 million or 44½ per cent., as pupil numbers fall by 8 per cent.
