Mr. McQuarrie

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what is the value of the contract placed with British Airways for air-sea rescue work which operates from Sumburgh airport; how long this contract will last; and whether it was gained by competitive tender or placed on a single contract basis.

Mr. Tebbit

The contract placed with British Airways Helicopters Ltd. was gained by competitive tender and will last three years until 31 December 1982. Financial details of the contract are confidential.
