HC Deb 03 March 1980 vol 980 cc88-9W
Mr. Geraint Howells

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many county council smallholdings have been sold in Wales during the last 12 months; and what were the corresponding figures for the last 10 years.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

The net change in the number of smallholdings between March 1978 and March 1979—the latest period for which figures are available—was a reduction of three, from 1,006 to 1,003. I understand that the change resulted from amalgamations, not from sales. Figures for earlier years are in the annual report to Parliament on smallholdings, copies of which are in the Library.
