HC Deb 03 March 1980 vol 980 c88W
Mr. Hudson Davies

asked the Secretary of State for Wales whether, in view of the extensive damage caused by flooding in the lower reaches of the Rhymney Valley in December 1979, he will now make available the £910,000 which would be required for flood prevention work on the Rhymney River in the Llanbradach and Machen areas.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

The River Rhymney improvement scheme is planned in four phases. Three of these phases have been approved for grant-aid on estimated costs of £855,000. The fourth and final stage has not yet been submitted for approval of grant-aid by the Welsh Water Authority. Work is currently in progress on phases 1 and 2.
