Mr. George Cunningham

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many electoral registration officers in Scotland did not send or deliver form A to each household for the purpose of compiling the register for 1980–81.

Electoral registration officers have discretion as to the method of inquiry they adopt in compiling the registers. All of them use form A but they do so to varying extents. Their most common practice is to carry out a door

which the details are available centrally is as follows:—

net migration between 1961 and 1979 expressed as a percentage of the population in 1961 and (c) the percentage employment change between 1970 and 1979.
