asked the Secretary of State for Trade what consideration he has given to the costs of consumer protection legislation, especially on the small trader.

Mr. Eyre

This Government attempt to strike a fair balance between the costs and benefits of consumer legislation—neither of which is easily quantifiable—while reducing unnecessary burdens on business, especially small business.
