HC Deb 24 June 1980 vol 987 cc102-3W
Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will call for a report from the chief constable of the Lothian constabulary as to the number of incidents of car thefts and damage which have been reported to him that took place in the vicinity of Edinburgh airport car park and as to what measures of additional protection have been suggested.

Mr. Rifkind

Policing this area is the responsibility of the chief constable of Lothian and Borders police, and I have arranged for the hon. Gentleman's concern to be brought to his attention. The police are already active in regard to car thefts or damage in the area, but I am not aware that the incidence of these compares unfavourably with that experienced elsewhere.
