asked the Secretary of State for Employment if a decision has been reached on the future of the quota scheme for employment of disabled workers; and if he will make a statement.

The Manpower Services Commission is still reviewing the operation of the quota scheme and will be making recommendations to Ministers towards the end of the year. My right hon. Friend will wish to consider its recommendations carefully before reaching a decision on this important issue.
