HC Deb 19 June 1980 vol 986 c651W
Mr. Marland

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what estimate he has made of the effect of the European Economic Community agreement on cereal production in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

Cereals production in the United Kingdom has been rising in recent years mainly as a result of improved yields. Given the increases in support prices for cereals agreed as part of the recent settlement of Community agricultural prices for 1980–81, our producers should be able to maintain that trend despite higher costs.
