HC Deb 19 June 1980 vol 986 cc650-1W
Mr. Brinton

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what recent discussion he has had with British apple producers on the further steps needed to increase their share in the United Kingdom market.

Mr. Wiggin

Following the publication of the Selborne report last February my right hon. Friend has discussed with British apple growers how they might implement the report's recommendations in order to recapture a larger share of the United Kingdom market from foreign competitors. We have already taken action on some of the recommendations contained in the report, and where further action can be initiated by the Government we shall press forward with it urgently.
