§ 17. Mr. Roy Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science, having regard to the reply of the hon. Member for Cardiff, North-West (Mr. Roberts), Official Report, 7 May, what plans he has to allow the qualifications in engineering, mathematics and science of those steel workers about to be made redundant from the industry to be utilised in the education professions.
§ Mr. Macfarlane: My right hon. and learned Friend will be glad to grant qualified teacher status to such people on the satisfactory completion of the education and training necessary to enable them to attain the standard for entry to the teaching profession.
