§ 18. Mr. Garel-Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is the current percentage of maintained secondary school places in England and Wales organised on comprehensive lines.
§ Dr. Boyson: Information about the number of school places is not collected by my Department, but in January 1979, the latest date for which figures are available, some 86 per cent. of pupils in maintained secondary schools in England attended comprehensive schools.
