HC Deb 02 June 1980 vol 985 c539W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if there is any evidence that teachers at non-maintained schools have higher qualifications than teachers in maintained schools.

Dr. Boyson

In 1979, 32 per cent. of all full-time teachers in maintained nursery, primary and secondary schools in England and Wales were graduates, compared with 58 per cent. in non-maintained schools. Comparative information on teacher training qualifications is not available.
