HC Deb 02 June 1980 vol 985 c539W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what evidence exists of differences in curriculum and teaching methods in the maintained and non-maintained sectors of secondary education.

Dr. Boyson

Evidence from the Department's review of local authority curricular arrangements and from Her Majesty inspectors' survey of secondary education, both published last year, indicated a variety of approaches towards curricular provision within the maintained sector. No comparable studies have been undertaken by the Department or Inspectorate of provision in non-maintained secondary schools.
