asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many circulars and other forms of general guidance his Department issued during the months January to April in 1978, 1979 and 1980.

General circulars issued by the Ministry of Defence to industry are limited to matters of special interest. Two such circulars were issued in January to April 1979, and none in the corresponding months of 1978 and 1980.

Information regarding circulars on specific matters which may be issued to particular sectors of industry is not available centrally, and could only be obtained with the expenditure of disproportionate time and effort. asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many staff are employed to provide cleaning services at Ministry of Defence offices in Devizes, Harrogate and Worcester; what is their average length of service; and how much the provision of these cleaning services at present costs.

The number and cost of complemented posts of the cleaning staff at MOD offices in Devizes, Harrogate and Worcester are given below. Not all of these posts are filled at present, the current strengths are indicated in brackets—in whole-time equivalent terms. The average lengths of service quoted are of those currently employed.
