HC Deb 28 July 1980 vol 989 c480W
31. Mr. Faulds

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether, in view of the Select Committee recommendation that some change should be made in the administrative mechanism for the interpretation of the statutory requirement of pre-eminence when works of art and museum objects are accepted in satisfaction of capital transfer tax, he now has any statement to make regarding his policy on this matter.

Mr. St. John-Stevas

I have almost completed the consultations that I have been holding on this important matter. I hope to make a statement before the House rises.
