HC Deb 28 July 1980 vol 989 c544W
Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the total revenue allocation given so far to the South West Thames regional health authority; how much of this has so far been spent on the Henderson hospital; how much has been allocated for the next two years; and if extra revenue will now be given to the South West Thames regional health authority for the provision of a regional secure psychiatric unit.

Dr. Vaughan

I assume that the hon. Member is referring to the revenue identified for the development of secure regional psychiatric facilities. Since 1976–77, South West Thames regional health authority's total revenue allocation has included the recurring sum of £585,000—at current price levels—for this purpose. I understand that in 1979–80 £50,000 was allocated by the South West Thames RHA to the Henderson hospital; and, in 1980–81, it is expected that approximately £300,000 will be made available. The allocation to the Henderson for future years has not yet been decided. When the region's plans for a regional secure psychiatric unit have been studied, the Department would be willing to consider allocating further RSU funds to the region.
