HL Deb 23 July 1980 vol 412 c500WA
Lord BROCKWAY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will offer technical assistance to Sierra Leone to improve its transport in view of the collapse of its railway system owing to the narrow guage track built by the United Kingdom in the colonialist period.

Lord CARRINGTON

Aid to Sierra Leone, both capital and technical cooperation, is allocated to specific purposes in agreement with the Government of that country. Subject to the availability of funds we would be ready to consider requests for assistance to the transport sector.
