HC Deb 14 July 1980 vol 988 cc409-10W
Mr. Maclennan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what action he proposes to take in the light of the concern of Scottish farmers that the new sheep regulations might not be in operation before the main lamb sales in the current year and that full details of the proposed seasonal scale of target prices might also not be made public in time to guide buyers.

Mr. Younger

I am very much aware of the concern about the date of implementation of the proposed EEC sheep-meat regime.

While the timetable is not within the United Kingdom Government's control, we shall continue to do everything we can to help get the proposed regime into operation at the earliest possible date. We shall make an announcement as soon as we can.
