§ Mr. BrittanThe information currently available relates to persons detained in all hospitals in England and Wales under part V of the Mental Health Act 1959 subject to restrictions on discharge, who were conditionally discharged in 1971, 1972 or 1973. Of the 382 such persons, 12 are known to have been convicted of a crime of violence against the person by the end of 1977. No information is available about offences committed by patients whose discharge was not subject to restrictions.
