asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will list the present levels of public support for the British textile industry.

Mr. David Mitchell

In the year ended 31 March 1980, offers made to British textiles, clothing and footwear firms under sections 7 and 8 of the Industry Act 1972 amounted to £13.7 million. In addition, £12.7 million was paid by way of regional development grants, and reimbursements of £9.1 million were approved under the temporary short time working compensation scheme.
