asked the Secretary of State for Industry what action he is now taking to provide more jobs in the South Yorkshire area.

South Yorkshire, with the exception of the Sheffield travel-to-work area, is to remain an assisted area. Apart from the public service, Government do not provide jobs in South Yorkshire or anywhere else. It is for private enterprise to create jobs.
