Mr. Clinton Davis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if the Metropolitan Police use the following code for the identification by ethnic appearance of all people stopped by police officers, viz.: IC 1 white-skinned European, IC 2 dark-skinned European, IC 3 black-skinned, including West Indian and African, IC 4 Indian and Pakistani, IC 5 Chinese and Japanese, and IC 6 Arabian and Egyptian.

I understand from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that such a code is used to identify ethnic appearance.
