§ Mr. Parryasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list in the Official Report the names of firms which have notified their closure on Merseyside since 5 May to the latest available date.
§ Mr. MayhewFrom 5 May 1979 to 16 January 1980, 56 firms—involving 4,807 employees—in the Merseyside metropolitan county council area have notified their intended closure to the Department under the compulsory notification of redundancy provisions of the Employment Protection Act 1975. To list their names would be a breach of the confidence in which such information is given under these provisions.
