HC Deb 14 January 1980 vol 976 cc612-3W
Dr. Summerskill

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether he will make an oral statement to the House on the progress of the discussions at the EEC Council of Foreign Ministers about the Commission's consultations with the United States of America concerning the threat to the wool textile industry from imports from the United States of America.

Mr. Parkinson

The increase in imports from the United States of America is in synthetic yarns and products, not in the wool textile sector. The House has already been informed of the discussions so far in the EEC Council of Ministers as a result of my right hon. Friend the Lord Privy Seal's written statement on 20 December 1979.
