Mr. Buchanan-Smith

* There has been no division between member States of that part of the North Sea joint stocks that it has been agreed with Norway should be taken by EEC vessels in Norwegian waters. A substantive proportion of the EEC quota is taken by United Kingdom fishermen.

Norway and Sweden (Kattegat and Skaggerak)

Agreement was reached on EEC quotas of the joint stocks in the Kattegat and Skaggerak. These have not been divided between member States but are expected to benefit mainly Danish fishermen.

Senegal

An agreement has been signed between the Community and Senegal whereby licensed Community vessels may fish in Senegalese waters. It is expected that mainly French and Italian vessels will avail themselves of these rights.

Spain

Under the provisions of the draft framework agreement traditional EEC fishing in Spanish waters is allowed to continue. This benefits mainly French fishermen.
