HL Deb 20 February 1980 vol 405 cc889-90WA
Lord AVEBURY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will publish a list of all the nuclear projects in the United Kingdom which have been or are being assisted by Euratom loans, giving in each case the amount of the loan, the interest rate, and the date on which it was agreed; and whether they will also list nuclear projects in respect of which loans have been requested or are contemplated.

The Earl of GOWRIE

The Commission announced on 14th February 1980 its decision to make a loan facility of £100 million available to the South of Scotland Electricity Board towards the construction of a nuclear power station at Torness. The terms and conditions of the loan will be determined at the time the board draws on the facility.

I understand that applications in respect of other nuclear projects in the United Kingdom have been made or are contemplated. Details of successful applications are announced by the Commission once they are agreed.
