HL Deb 18 February 1980 vol 405 cc559-60WA
Lord CHELWOOD

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What action they are taking to revise the COCOM Agreement and when the new lists of prohibited exports will become operative.

Lord CARRINGTON

COCOM's lists of embargoed exports are regularly reviewed. The latest review ended recently. The lists which emerged from this review can only become operative after all Member States have ratified them. Meanwhile, as I told the House on 24th January, we are studying with our partners the tighter application of COCOM's rules for controlling the transfer of technology to the Soviet Union.
