HL Deb 14 February 1980 vol 405 c475WA
Lord TORPHICHEN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will describe their policy for the allocation of radio frequencies subsequent to the World Administrative Radio Conference 1979.

Lord BELSTEAD

The policy of the Government is to continue to allocate radio frequencies in accordance with national needs and to have regard, in due course, to the obligations imposed on the United Kingdom by the decisions of this conference. The Radio Regulations contained in the Final Acts do not come into force generally until 1st January 1982. The conference made express provision for delay in some cases for as much as 10 years, in implementing changes in frequency allocations, in certain parts of the frequency spectrum.
