When a sick passenger who has been refused entry is fit to travel, directions 186W for his removal are given to the carrier under paragraph 8 of schedule 2 to the Immigration Act 1971, unless the circumstances are such that directions have to be given under paragraph 10. When directions are given under paragraph 8, the cost of removal, including the expenses of any medical escort, fall on the carrier.
