asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) how many men have applied for home responsibilities protection, but have been refused on the grounds that they are not the main payee of the child benefit in respect of their child or children;

  1. (2) how many men to date have been given home responsibilities protection since its introduction; and of these how many were caring for a child or children at home and how many for an elderly or sick person at home;
  2. (3) how many of the men receiving home responsibilities protection because they were caring for their child or children at home are single fathers, and how many are husbands of sole breadwinner wives.
