HC Deb 19 December 1980 vol 996 c387W
Dr. Roger Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what steps are taken to monitor any effects from radiation of temporary workers employed by the various generating boards in such operations as the delagging of radioactive contaminated pipes.

Mr. Norman Lamont

I understand that as regards CEGB power stations in England and Wales temporary workers are fully subject to radiological control where this is appropriate and that records of exposure to radiation are maintained by the men's employers.

These are matters within the day-to-day management responsibilities of the Central Electricity Generating Board, and I am asking the chairman to write to the hon. Member.

The electricty boards in Scotland come within the responsibility of my right hon Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland.
