HC Deb 19 December 1980 vol 996 cc402-3W
Mr. Kenneth Baker

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many co-operative agreements for local authority management co-operatives have been approved under schedule 20 to the Housing Act 1980.

Mr. Stanley

My right hon. Friend has just given approval to the first two local authority management cooperative agreements to be drawn up under schedule 20 of the Housing Act 1980. One agreement is between the Greater London Council and a management co-operative formed on the GLC's Wellington Mills estate in South London; the other between the GLC and the Ewart Road Housing Co-operative in Lewisham.

Under the terms of these agreements, the co-operatives will take over day-to-day responsibility for management and maintenance of the homes whilst individually the members of the co-operative retain the same rights as other local authority tenants including the right to buy.
