§ Mr. Campbell-Savoursasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what information his Department requires to be published on the operation of all London education authority schools which is not similarly sought from schools which have opted into the assisted places scheme.
§ Dr. BoysonThere are as yet no requirements as to the publication of information about schools maintained by local education authorities, but my right hon. and learned372W Friend is at present consulting widely about his proposals for the content of regulations on this subject to be made under section 8 of the Education Act 1980.
The Education (Assisted Places) Regulations 1980 specifically require schools participating in the assisted places scheme to publish inter alia such information as to public examination entries and results as may be required in respect of maintained schools by the regulations under section 8 of the Education Act 1980 referred to above.
They also empower the Secretary of State to require the publication of any other information he may specify. My right hon. and learned Friend will consider the extent to which it is desirable to exercise that power in the light of experience of the operation of the scheme.
