HC Deb 18 December 1980 vol 996 c249W
Mr. Rowlands

asked the Secretary of State for Wales whether he will now publish the results of the review of the 4,700 jobs in the pipeline based on data as at the end of June; and whether he will list any revisions to the list of jobs and firms included in his answer of 18 April.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

Our latest estimate is that manufacturing projects for which selective financial assistance has been accepted or which will otherwise be undertaken in Government financed factories will give rise to some 2,300 jobs over the next three of four years in Mid-Glamorgan. The difference between this figure and the earlier estimate of 4,700 is in large part accounted for by recruitment totalling about 1,750. Detailed information on individual projects cannot be given, for reasons of commercial confidentiality, but most of the companies mentioned in my answer of 18 April are expected to provide further employment.—[Vol. 982,c. 744–5.]
