§ Mr. Paul Deanasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement of the eligibility of persons employed in the National Health Service for membership of the House.
§ Mr. Patrick JenkinI am advised that the decscription
employed in the civil service of the Crownin section 1 of the House of Commons Disqualification Act 1975 does not extend to persons employed by health authorities; and that as their office of employment is not mentioned elsewhere in that section or in the schedule to the Act they are not disqualified by it from membership of the House.
